A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY - JOACHIM VAN OOSTRUM
Following five years of training in Amsterdam, Joachim van Oostrum qualified as a goldsmith at the age of 21. In his final year of study, he entered the Netherlands Goldsmith Competition where he was awarded third prize. Once qualified he worked for top jewellery establishments in the Netherlands. After ten years’ experience, which included working on many special and unique pieces, he ventured abroad with his sights set on New Zealand. Highlights of his jewellery career in New Zealand so far include winning the New Zealand Jewellery Showcase competition and crafting exclusive pieces for high-profile clients including British royalty.
Joachim loves connecting with people and enjoys creating something special which will be treasured for a lifetime. Whether it be an engagement ring, wedding ring, or recreating a new piece using sentimental heirloom jewellery. From concept to completion, Joachim’s passion underpins every step of the jewellery process. What sets LOVE IN A JEWEL apart is Joachim's involvement throughout every stage – from initial sketches to melting the gold, through to setting and final polishing.
